Plastx is the first platform of its kind that allows plastic and cosmetic surgeons to easily share innovations and techniques with their peers. It is a learning environment for professionals who want to develop new skills and improve the ones they have. It is also a platform where innovative surgeons can share their successes and monetize their intellectual property.

Plastic and cosmetic surgeons overwhelmingly agree that getting published in peer-reviewed journals has become overly complicated and too expensive. The process is burdensome and time consuming, and there is no guarantee that submissions will be approved for publication, even when the process is followed to the letter.
Plastx has removed many of the barriers to sharing new procedures and techniques among industry professionals. With Plastx, plastic and cosmetic surgeons around the world can benefit and learn from the innovations of others and move the industry as a whole forward. In addition, individual surgeons can improve patient care and grow their practices by advancing their skills.

"As a plastic surgeon who has been practicing for more than three decades, I have benefitted greatly from networking with other practitioners in the plastic and cosmetic surgery industry. I strongly believe that surgeons should never stop learning and honing their skills. However, in recent years, I’ve found that industry training programs, professional meetings, and peer-reviewed journals have become less successful at helping surgeons share information on new procedures and techniques.
By creating Plastx, I hope to give plastic and cosmetic surgeons an easy way to learn from other surgeons all over the world. By documenting their procedures, surgeons can provide guidance on new techniques, as well as on established methods that they are successfully using in their own practices.
I also believe that innovation should be rewarded! When surgeons develop new ways of doing things from which others can benefit, they should be able to monetize that intellectual property. Through the Plastx platform, now they can! Contributors to Plastx receive a portion of the fee that is paid when their content is accessed. They also get the benefit of feedback from their peers.
My hope is that Plastx will become a valued databank of readily available content to plastic and cosmetic surgeons around the world!"
